While Green Cleaning is becoming a common requirement for cleaning buildings throughout the District of Columbia, Total Quality has been providing this service to several clients for over seven years. The National Wildlife Federation’s facility in Reston, Virginia, is totally “Green”. Total Quality developed a program for the Federation over seven years ago and has continued to improve this environmentally friendly cleaning program ever since. With the introduction of and commit to using JohnsonDiversity’s Healthy High Performance Cleaning, Total Quality Building Services has provided green cleaning service to many more of its clients including the Transportation Security Administration for over three years and most recently the major transition of One Metro Center and Chevy Chase Pavilion. Paper products, cleaning materials and cleaning chemicals are “green seal” approved and HEPA vacuums are used for this type of cleaning.

Healthy High Performance Cleaning: This program is optional and is implemented upon request of the management company. It is our full-scale “Green Cleaning Program” which is totally responsive to addressing the new environmental standards that are being developed for today’s facilities. It is monitored by the Quality Assurance Department, as it requires that “green cleaning” initiatives are in place and working efficiently. The enormous environmental impact of cleaning products resulting from the extraction of raw materials, their manufacture into finished goods, their transportation, storage, use and ultimate disposal is enormous. The impact of many of these products on building occupants and cleaning personnel health is also sizable. Building occupants spend substantial time within buildings. They can be exposed to chemicals and other substances resulting from the cleaning process for many hours each day. The same can be said for cleaning personnel who are in daily contact with cleaning chemicals. Creating a healthy environment by extracting the contaminants that normally enter buildings can greatly enhance work productivity, performance and work quality as well as their sense of well being. Total Quality has implemented the HHPC program into its cleaning program and is working to limit exposure to chemicals and positively affect the indoor air quality of the buildings we serve. It is another aspect of “Quality Assurance” that we strive to deliver to our clients.
