In 1993 Victor Moran and Thaddeus Tatem mutually committed to developing a first-class, totally dependable commercial cleaning company, providing the finest in cleaning services to the Federal Government and the prestigious “K Street and Pennsylvania Avenue” sections of Washington, DC. Their philosophy was simple: If we can’t succeed in the heart of our city, then we aren’t going to do this.” Where other commercial cleaning firms took the less aggressive approach and started their businesses outside the Capitol Beltway, Total Quality achieved its goal and found success in the opposite approach.
Both owners knew that it was important to grow in strategic increments and the steady positive growth has now exceeded $14,500,000 annually with over 14,000,000 square feet of commercial, mixed-use and government office space. The majority of this success and consistent expansion of business are based on client referrals and the dependable and consistently high quality service that Total Quality clients receive. Total Quality has achieved more in 14 years than most commercial cleaning companies achieve in 20 years. Total Quality is the youngest of the ten top 2005 companies ranked by The Washington Business Journal.
We attribute our passion for quality and commitment to exceeding contractual obligations as the primary reasons for this significant achievement. An example of customer confidence and satisfaction begins with our Government contracts: for the last six years Total Quality has provided complete facility management services to Postal Square. This unique Federal facility contract is the perfect example of Total Quality’s ability to provide the best in day cleaning services for over 1.5 million square feet of space. The U. S. Treasury, where tremendously demanding historic renovations have been on-going during the four-year tenure of our contract, has just renewed its contract with Total Quality for another five years; and the IRS Headquarters, which awarded Total Quality the contract for cleaning in 2001, recently re-awarded this contract to TQ for another five years as well.
Total Quality has also been the contractor of choice for over eight years at one of the most diverse mixed-use projects in the District of Columbia, the Washington Harbour. Over 12,000 people visit this complex each month. At the Harbour there are many fine restaurants, retail establishments, residential condominiums, and Class A commercial office space. There is significant terrace space and a great view of the Potomac River. This 750,000 square foot complex is located at the base of the river requiring that Total Quality remain completely prepared for floods that occur throughout the year. We are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for this service. Much equipment is stationed on-site to avoid unnecessary delays and to provide the best in response time to customers of Washington Harbour.
One of the most significant achievements any commercial cleaning organization can achieve is to maintain its original base of business. Total Quality is proud to say that after 14 years, we still provide services to our original client--not only do we maintain the first building we undertook, we now service the entire portfolio for our first client, Royco.
VWe at Total Quality are confident that our future growth will only continue to improve both operationally and with new industry advancements. Green Cleaning is becoming the preferred type of service for janitorial companies, and again, Total Quality is a local leader in this type of cleaning. Our current contract for the National Wildlife Federation has been in place for over seven years. This non-profit organization demanded Green Cleaning long before the industry began to consider it. Total Quality was there and continues to research and provide the tools to implement and fine tune this environmentally safe cleaning program.
